MyHound to Feature BookSense.com Store Event Listings
May 21, 2008
This
week, BookSense.com announced that it will be providing MyHound.com,
a new service that gives users customized entertainment alerts on demand,
with an events feed from all BookSense.com participating stores. The events
will be listed on MyHound.com and will have links back to bookstores' websites.
MyHound.com allows visitors to search and sign up to get updates about new releases
and events for any author, actor, or musician.
At MyHound.com, users sign up for e-mail notifications of new CD and book releases,
concerts, tour dates, and other events related to their favorite artists --
from famous rock stars and bestselling authors to indie bands, unknown actors,
and niche writers. On its website, MyHound notes that "the company's services
are based on the belief that consumers are devoted to their cultural interests
and eagerly anticipate news related to their favorite artists."
Earlier this month, BookSense.com began providing an events feed from BookSense.com
stores to LibraryThing, the popular cataloguing and social networking website
for bibliophiles. The events are listed on LibraryThing Local, the place where
LibraryThing members go to add their favorite bookstores, connect with friends,
and keep track of interesting book-related events.
Booksellers who do not want their events included in the feed can opt out of
the program by removing the check in the "Share Store Events" box
on the "Preferences" page of the store's BookSense.com administrative
site. Questions about the program should be directed to staff@booksense.com.
